Conservation of a city’s heritage reflects its resident’s cultural awareness. The research problem is negligence of “San Stefano” Tram Station, Alexandria. The study aims to develop the station towards preserving the city’s heritage, through adaptive reuse into a compact museum for the city’s tram history through implementing contemporary sustainable methods, utilizing interior architecture theories and concepts of miniature display, in which functional requirements and aesthetic values ​​are achieved, also the visual identity of the station is restored. The study was able to present ideas for functional improving of the station elements through a design proposal using descriptive applicative approach to achieve contemporary innovative ideas. The research significance lies in the station’s distinguished location as a touristic attraction, integrating functional, aesthetic approaches, environmental, economic requirements, and community service. Finally, the research ends with recommendations for interior designing of a compact-museum criteria, preserving the city’s heritage, and proposing general research conclusions.
